A Day On The Farm at Calmsley Hill City Farm

Calmsley Hill City Farm is a true gem of the city's animal scene and one of the best places to get up close and personal with some gorgeous farm animals in Sydney - there is just such an authentic feel about the place it’s hard not to leave smiling.

For kids who live in the hustle and bustle of the busy city, Calmsley Hill is the perfect place to teach them about life on the land.

Once known as Fairfield City Farm, the property has been in action since 1806. It’s a fabulous day out for kids, especially in the spring when there is an abundance of gorgeous babies to cuddle. You and your children will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with all sorts of furry friends at the farmyard nursery, such as goats, ducks, chickens, lambs, calves, piglets, mice, ferrets and rabbits.

A day on the farm can also include milking a cow – and what a wonderful opportunity to teach your kids about where milk comes from!

There's also the opportunity to enjoy a working dog show, a whip-cracking show, and learn all about shearing sheep. You can also take a ride around the 400-acre property on the back of a very well-equipped tractor—providing tonnes of fun for all ages!

Australians and non-Australians alike will delight in being able to hand-feed a large variety of native Australian animals; wallabies, emus, roos, and koalas included. Just pick up a bag of fed as you buy your ticket on the way in!

For the younger kids, there is an onsite playground area, conveniently located by the café which has several outside tables and chairs. The café sells a mix of hot and cold food plus all the good stuff like ice creams, coffee and drinks.

It's really hard to past the authenticity of Calmsley Hill City Farm. The staff are so lovely and so incredibly passionate about the animals – look out for one of the very sweet TAFE placement students who loves any excuse to get the babies out for you to cuddle.

The whole place is just so quintessentially Aussie—making it a must-visit for all Sydneysiders - it’s also a really popular place for kids' birthday parties!
