Best Kid-Friendly Cafes In The Eastern Suburbs

By: Alex Reszelska, 01 August 2019

You can't buy sleep or happiness, but you can have a cup of coffee and drink it in the sun – and that's pretty close to bliss, right? Here we are listing some of the most family-friendly cafes in the Eastern Suburbs. From awesome play areas and ocean views to the most sprinkly babyccinos and FREE cookies, each is going to give your whole family a lovely experience eating out.

Waverley Park Kiosk

This hidden gem of a café lies just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Bondi Junction. With luscious green all around (Waverley Pavilion is tucked inside of Waverley Park), and the panoramic ocean views, it is a haven for parents with babies in prams, roaming toddlers and mothers' groups. The Kiosk boasts a spacious indoor and outdoor area with plenty of toys, highchairs, and has both sunny and shaded lawns perfect for a little stretch, ball playing or bubs’ crawling practice. It is also next to a great (and gated!) playground, so all the calories consumed can be quickly burnt off climbing, swinging and running around. A sweet bonus – there is always a jar of FREE yummy cookies for kids on the counter, and their babyccino + 2 marshmallows deal is lip-smacking.

Bellagio Cafe

This busy café is famous for its hearty, yet healthy brekkies and brunches, and has an amazing selection of caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks. But what makes it super special is a little backyard area for kids, full of walkers, ride-ons, and slides. Just all the parents need at the start of a busy weekend – a few relaxing moments with the warm coffee when the kids tend to themselves.

Favoloso Cafe Deli Store

A delicious slice of Italy (Sicily, to be exact) in Bronte, this café and deli will work a treat for your family’s tastebuds. It has a lot going on: a sun-drenched alfresco sitting plan, home-made meals, and plenty of Italian deli goodies to buy for savouring at home. There is also a secret backyard with wooden tables and heaps of ride-on toys and bicycles for your little ones to go crazy-happy on.

Queens Park Shed Café

The parents' favourite, Queen’s Park Shed café has everything you need: large, wooden tables, the menu full of healthy meals and snacks, baby change facilities and colouring kits for kids, and – most importantly – the wildly big playground sitting next to it. So, the little ones get: multiple swings, slides, towers, and sand. You get: good coffee and the peace of mind (woo-hoo, the playground is fenced!). Also, kids eat free on Thursday nights and during school holidays.

M Deli Café

Just minutes from the Tamarama’s Mark Park with its stunning 180-degree views from Bondi to Bronte Beaches, this little café has a laid-back vibe, delicious menu (your kids are going to beg for the chewy M&M cookies), and a good selection of kids’ toys and books. Food in the café is made on-site and baked daily, and the produce is organic, free-range and locally sourced.

Shuk Bondi

Shuk is a local go-to venue, wildly popular amongst the Bondi crowd because of its delicious coffee & freshly baked bread. The café has a playful fenced backyard full of toys to keep the kids entertained, baby change facilities and plenty of room for prams both indoors and outdoors. Thumbs up!
