By: Carolyn Tate, 03 September 2019

Spring is finally in the air and it's warm in Brisbane this week! If you look up from your shoes as you're walking down the street, you can actually see people smiling.

The shoulder season is precious in Brisbane - it's finally warm enough to lose the jumpers and jeans, but we're not sweating our faces off and dealing with grumpy hot children yet. Spring is the perfect time to gather the family together and hit up some of the festivals that are coming to Brisbane. Here are some of our favourites.

Green Heart Fair

If you want to teach your kids about sustainability in a fun way while enjoying a day out, you can’t go past Brisbane City Council’s Green Heart Fair. It’s Brisbane’s biggest free bi-annual community and sustainability festival. Promoting innovative green living in a fun, family-friendly environment, there’s always loads to see, do and learn.

Over 100 of Brisbane’s leading sustainability organisations, community groups, artisans, foodies, green- thumbs, conservationists, businesses and eco experts will be at this year’s fair to share info and knowledge on what we can all do to create a greener Brisbane.

SunSuper Riverfire

Not a festival, exactly, but arguably one of Brisbane’s biggest nights on the social calendar, Riverfire is a spectacular aerial display. Riverfire is the encore to the annual Brisbane Festival and the show certainly doesn’t disappoint. The Super Hornets and Army helicopters put on a hell of a show, but the fireworks are the main event. The display of pyrotechnic brilliance dazzles the crowd, and kids absolutely love the atmosphere created by colour and music. Entertainment starts at 4pm, and fireworks are a whopping 20 minutes long, starting at 7pm.
