Sugar do-do-do-do-do-do ahhh, honey honey! In our household, The Bee Movie gets played just about every single day since our little one developed a fascination with bees, flying, and sticky, gooey delicious honey!

To further develop this eager fascination with bees and honey, we thought it was high time we looked into 6 amazing honey farms in Sydney and where you can source their fresh and scrumptious honey from.

1. Blue Mountains Honey Company – The Honey Shed

If you're heading towards the Blue Mountains, stop in at Blue Mountains Honey.


Top on the list of any honey farm tour must be Blue Mountains Honey. The family-owned operation has been churning out honey, honeycomb, condiments, beeswax skincare and other products for over 30 years and even invite visitors to tour their working honey shed. Located at the foot of the Blue Mountains, The Honey Shed is open Mondays to Saturdays from 9:30 am to 3 pm for honey lovers to have a gander at the honey-making process and to buy some delicious treats.

2. Centennial Parklands

Did you know that Centennial Parklands produces honey? We didn’t either, but now that we do, we’re very eager to sample honey that’s made right in the heart of Sydney. Every batch of Centennial Parklands honey is 100% raw and unheated, meaning you know you’re getting only the good stuff, and they all taste different based on the season and unique nectar collected by the bees. While you can’t actually visit the eight European beehives that currently reside within a protected bird sanctuary, you can buy fresh honey jars from the Parklands Office and the Centennial Homestead within the park. Yum!

3. The Urban Beehive

Aside from producing some of the tastiest honey around, Urban Beehive are the gatekeepers of some of Sydney's most thriving beehives and even offer courses on how to become a successful beekeeper. 5. Cedar Creek Orchard

If you're looking for a real-deal honey farm experience close to Sydney, go for a family road trip to Cedar Creek Orchard just outside Picton. Owned and run by the Silm family since 1937, Cedar Creek Orchard grows and sells a wide variety of local produce including fresh fruits and honey. Cultivating fresh honey and beeswax from their own beehives and neighbouring farms, Cedar Creek Orchard's delicious honey is as close to farm-fresh as you can get! The stunning Cedar Creek Orchard is nestled among the hills in South-Western Sydney, making for a picturesque family outing.

6. Mudgee Honey Haven

This one is a little further afield, but if you're keen for a road trip or a weekend away, take a 3-hour drive north-west of Sydney to the Mudgee Honey Haven Factory and Gift-Shop. The region is known for its superb local produce and this is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the beautiful town. It has the widest selection of local honey available to try and buy, plus a huge range of handcrafted products. See the live working beehive in action through a special glass window and enjoy a relaxed afternoon tea in the delightful cafe. There is a range of gifts, tasting of honey wines and liqueurs and even an 18-hole mini-golf course for the kids!
