By: Amy Nelmes Bissett, 25 August 2021

You’ve navigated an iso Mother’s Day but this is the first time Father’s Day has fallen within a lockdown.

So to help you still make that day extra special for your dad or your child’s dad, here’s a step-by-step guide of fun things to do on Sunday September 5.

9am - Breakfast in Bed

It’s a no brainer really, isn’t it? Breakfast in bed on Father’s Day is a given but in lockdown, it’s time to level it up and order a pre-made breakfast hamper. There’s a few available in Sydney right now but our top picks are Box Catering which allow you to pick and choose what you want in your hamper, from freshly-made ham and cheese croissants to fresh fruit skewers and you pay per item, with free delivery in the metro area. Or if you're looking for a more DIY approach then you can order the Pepe Saya Butter pancakes mix.

While the chances of booking in for a spa day are slim, you can still squeeze in some at-home pampering for dad. These incredible Road Massage T-Shirts by Bright Star Kids feature a racetrack so the kids can grab their cars and zoom around as dad enjoys a mini massage.

1pm - A Floor Picnic

While picnics are still permitted in Sydney, except for in the LGAs of concern, the weather isn’t expected to be great. So unroll the picnic blanket in the living room for a floor picnic. You could just cobble together some items from the fridge but why not make it extra special and order a grazing platter from Feed Well. There’s a huge variety, from cheese to charcuterie and everything in between.

3pm – Afternoon Quiz or Boardgame

When NSW plunged into lockdown, we did the groundwork and found the best pub trivia and quizzes available. There’s every type of quiz imaginable here. But we also have a fun 20 fun trivia questions for younger children and card games suitable for the whole family. But for us, a Sunday afternoon playing a board game like Monopoly is always a winner.

5pm - Pre-Dinner Virtual Wine Tasting
