Sydney❜s Most Sustainable Restaurants

By: Haylie Gordon, 05 July 2019

Happy Plastic Free July! We at ellaslist love going green for a good cause and were thrilled to chat to OpenTable about their growing list of 100% sustainable restaurants in Sydney.

Recent research from online restaurant reservations platform, OpenTable, has revealed Aussie’s growing appetite for ethically sourced and eco-friendly dining options.

The research showed that when it came to selecting a restaurant, savvy diners were doing their research before booking, with 1 in 3 (31%) wanting to know how far food had travelled before ending up on their plate, and an incredible 43% of diners wishing restaurants disclosed whether their food was ethically sourced.

To help make sourcing sustainable restaurants in Sydney a lot easier, we chatted with OpenTable about their top-rated sustainable restaurants in Sydney.

Love.Fish - Barangaroo

Their proteins are also sustainably sourced and in the most part, secondary cuts cooked slowly to release the abundance of flavour.

Ah, The Grounds - is there anything they can't do right?! The organic garden at The Grounds of Alexandria Café - the source of much of the fresh produce used in the kitchen - is augmented by compost made from kitchen scraps. The restaurant’s green efforts also include rewarding its customers for carpooling and cycling: those arriving with four or more in one car get free coffee and valet parking while customers arriving on bicycles all receive free coffees - it's a win-win!
