The Best Dog Parks In Sydney
If you’ve ever frequented any beach esplanade or green space in Sydney on a Saturday morning, two things will quickly have become abundantly clear: Sydneysiders really love coffee, and they really really love dogs.
A lot of them might be on a leash, however, which isn’t ideal for the canine cardio a pup needs to maintain optimal health. Luckily, there is a tonne of dog parks peppered throughout the city, ready and raring to receive your hyperactive, zooming woofers.
So whether you’re already a dog-parent, an aspiring dog-parent or you just want to witness the unbridled joy of watching pups play together in their natural habitat, here are our best picks.
Centennial Park
Boasting over 158-hectares of designated off-leash areas, the picturesque hub of Centennial parkland located in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs is the perfect place to socialise your shy doggo with lots of other friendly pups. There’s plenty of space to play ball games and get to know other pooches in the area, plus there’s plenty of coffee spots that’ll please the humans!
Camperdown Memorial Rest Park

A super-popular pick for inner-westies, Camperdown Memorial Rest Park is the perfect spot for both people and pupper watching. The park is officially off-leash between 5 pm and 9 am, although there are often lots of leisure doggo’s frolicking around during the day. The large, green and flat nature of the expanse makes it a veritable mecca for puppy playtime, and there will be plenty of room for all manner of ball games.
St Ives Showground

When it comes to crowd-pleasing dog parks, there are few that tick more boxes than St Ives Showground. It’s a fully off-leash facility that boasts both open and fenced dog training grounds, a children's play area, facilities for BMX riding, soccer fields and BBQs—making it the perfect spot to while away a day with family.
It also plays host to a Saturday morning dog training club, Saturday afternoon obedience classes and an annual Dogs Day Out festival; all of which are perfect for canine-craving, dog-less spectators.
Sydney Park

Home to the largest off-leash area in the inner city, Sydney Park offers people and their pups over 40 hectares of green, open space, gently rolling hills and walkways. The barbecue facilities and play areas for kids make Sydney Park a go-to destination for a great day out with the entire family—four-legged friends included. And did you know it is home to Sydney's first dog-only pool (see above)?! BYO unicorn float, glamour pups!
Warrigal Run at Bungarribee Park
Located in the Western Sydney suburb of Doonside—Bungarribee park is officially Sydney’s largest off-leash park. Warrigal Run is the name of the actual dog park, and it’s the ideal spot for younger pups who are learning the ropes of doggy etiquette as there’s so much room to play but is fenced to ensure little ones don’t run off. There’s also water bowls, waste bags and seating areas for weary owners.
Rowland Reserve, Bayview

If you don’t mind the smell of wet dog infiltrating your car on the drive home, Rowland Reserve in the idyllic suburb of Bayview is the perfect spot for your next mutt-ley meander. It’s completely off-leash and right on the water, but it stays relative shallow so it’s perfect for pups that like to paddle!
