The Best Healthy Hangouts On Sydney❜s North Shore

By: ellalist team, 23 October 2020

Parents, it's impossible to keep up with the relentless demands of little (and big) ones without something in the tank! Fueling up with healthy food is your best chance of powering through the day in top form.

For the time-poor among us, organising wholesome meals can be a huge ask but thankfully there are some amazing foodies spots out there that will keep your body nourished and give you a little time out too.

If you're on Sydney's North Shore, these top picks will tickle your tastebuds and have you raring to go.

Cali Press

Cali Press

Just in time for a post-Balmoral Beach smoothie this summer, Cali Press has just launched its first North Shore nourish bar in the heart of Mosman. An off-duty health haunt for Eastern Suburbs celebs including Pip Edwards and Tash Oakley, Cali Press has grown up since its O.G days as a Bondi Beach juicery to launch an evolutionary concept featuring a full menu of warm bowls and salads, vegan friendly smoothies and other wellness beverages. Pop in for a veggie packed ‘macro’ bowl, or if you’re looking to detox, Cali Press’ founder Scott Glasson recommends the Cali Press Recovery Lemonade with activated charcoal – activated charcoal absorbs toxins and impurities in the body and removes them, for a clearer digestive track, reduced bloating and purified skin. Can’t argue with a lemonade providing all of that!

Our pick: For glowing summer skin and to slow down those wrinkles - the Berry Collagen smoothie with cashew milk.
Where: 912 Military Road, Mosman

Against the Grind

Against the Grind

As well as seriously good coffee from Campos coffee roasters, the locally-owned Against the Grind have an epic selection of satisfying brekkie options, and then for lunch there’s plenty of nourishing healthy bowls and poke bowls on their lunch menu, with high-quality proteins like N.Z. Ora King Salmon, Korean Beef, slow-cooked pork, and coconut poached chicken. The straight-out veggie bowl is also a hit, with haloumi and home-made hummus. If you’re feeling like indulging, the panini menu is top-notch, or grab some Italian deli meats and cheeses from their on-site delicatessen, to go!

Our pick: The Yellow Fin Wild Tuna Bowl, with shredded cucumber, pickled cucumber, carrot, red cabbage, and tamari almonds.
Where: 9 Young St, Neutral Bay

Nudefish Poke

Nude Fish

Nudefish proudly use only sustainable Australian seafood, free range poultry and biodynamic tofu and make all sauces and pickles in house. Comforting and bursting with Asian flavours, these bowls from chef Tom Burton are packed with the finest sashimi grade fish, indulgent toppings and sauces and pickles made inhouse.

Our pick: The Green Goddess is hard to go past, with house-made green goddess sauce, edamame, shredded kale, fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and coconut crunch.
Where: Shop P6 Greenwood Plaza 36 Blue St North Sydney

The Alchemist

ALCHEMIST

Family-owned hangout The Alchemist (the name and décor is a nod to the owner’s former career as a scientist!) is well-known in Cammeray and beyond for their delicious, colourful breakfast bowls,  salads, and salad bowls, like the rainbow-wonderful Korean ‘BBB’ bowl.  If you’re there for brekkie, try the breakfast bowl, that features an acai smoothie base topped with house-made granola, seasonal fruits, coconut flakes, and passionfruit pulp. They also have excellent homemade kombucha that every kombucha fan needs to try at least once.

Our pick: Their dreamy Peach N Walnut Salad, made of peach, fig, candied nuts, mixed leafs, barley, goat cheese, prosciutto with housemade lime dressing, is the perfect salad on a warm day.
Where: 8 Carter St, Cammeray
