The Second Active Kids Voucher Is Here To Encourage Year Round Health

By: Alex Harmon, 03 July 2019

Come on parents, you know you love those cold winter mornings on the side of the soccer field...

To encourage kids to be fit all year long the state government has stuck to its election word and will double the Active Kids Voucher. This means you'll get a second $100 rebate to spend in the second half of the year.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced that from July 2019 NSW families will be able to access two Active Kids vouchers ($100 each) in the hope that children will continue to play sport from January to December.

“The program has been hugely popular with more than 1 million vouchers issued since launching,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“This is all about making sports more accessible for more children across the State and by making it affordable for parents, we are doing our part to help make kids active and healthy.”

In 2019 a second $100 Active Kids voucher will be available for the six month period from 1 July to 31 December. From 2020 two $100 Active Kids vouchers will be available from Service NSW for the entire calendar year.

The government hopes that this will encourage parents to enroll kids in winter sports such as netball and AFL.

The two vouchers cannot be combined to pay for a single program however they can be used with the one provider to help pay the cost of two separate terms of sport such as the summer and winter season of netball.

The vouchers may be used with an approved Active Kids provider for registration and membership costs for sport and active recreation activities. Find out more information here.
