Winter Bars In Sydney For Cosy Date Nights

By: Sarah Tayler, 05 July 2019

As the days get shorter and the temperature drops through the floor, it's only natural to have cosy bars with warming cocktails on the mind. If you need some cold-weather inspiration, here is our list of bars that have excellent wintery offerings, perfect for date nights or girls nights out in Sydney.

Barangaroo House Igloos, Barangaroo

For a girls night out with a twist this winter, book your own private igloo and enjoy a hearty cheese fondue accompanied by a selection of warming cocktails. The 2 Barangaroo House rooftop igloos can accommodate up to 10 people and have a minimum spend of $500 ($50 per person between 10 friends). Each booking lasts for 2 hours and offers full table service so there is no need to venture out into the cold.

East Village Winter Garden, Darlinghurst

Popping up this winter on the rooftop terrace of Darlinghurst’s East Village is perhaps the most wintery of winter date nights in Sydney! Think mulled wine and cider, cheese fondue and Bavarian currywurst. Inspired by European Christmas markets offering food and drinks from France, Switzerland and Germany, the Winter Garden is open from 5 pm Tuesday to Friday and from 2 pm on weekends. Snuggle up under the twinkling fairy lights for 2-for-1 warming winter cocktails between 5 pm and 7 pm daily. Entry is free but bookings are advised.

Doss House, The Rocks

While summer date nights in Sydney are all about sitting harbourside with a rosé in hand, winter date nights are all about sipping your favourite red while sharing a cheese platter in an intimate corner of a cosy bar. Doss House screams cosy winter evenings with its comfy sofas and open fireplace. This historic underground bar offers a range of wintery house cocktails and specialises in whiskies — they even have a tasting night so you can narrow down your new go-to tipple.
