Mambara Track
The perfect starting spot for families that are new to bushwalking, Mambara Track is a super-easy 20-minute expedition that offers some great insights and knowledge about the local bush. The loop track is only a 717-metre circuit, making it a fabulous choice for little ones and beginners before leading onto bigger challenges!
Baker’s Cottage

The perfect walk for those that like a bit of history with their hikes, the Baker’s Cottage track will make an exciting choice for kids. The cottage itself is 140 years old and is the oldest standing and unmodified structure in the Ku-ring-gai area. While you can’t see inside, children will love playing games around its perimeter, and the 45-minute, 1.5km return circuit make it a fun route for the whole family.
Ferndale Park Loop
This short loop will be a popular choice among mini-adventurers, thanks to its off-the-beaten-track feel and route through undeveloped valleys. The thick canopy above provides a cool, comfortable shade, while the 3.3 km, 1 hour 30-minute return journey promises to see little ones blow off some serious steam.

Perfect for taking your time and stopping along the route, the walk is home to a plethora of beautiful picnic spots along the banks, and it’s a coveted spot for hiring boats to while away a day on the river. The 1 hour, 1.3 km return track make it a popular choice among families.
Epping To Eastwood Station (via Terry’s Creek)
Brimming with places to stop and enjoy the view, this 1 hour 30-minute, 4.1 km route bridges the gap between two busy train stations, making it the perfect choice for little rail enthusiasts! The beautiful Terry’s Creek waterfall is the ideal spot to stop and enjoy a picnic and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature.
Riverside Walking Track

If your family is game for more of a challenge, the epic riverside walk is for you. Positioned for prime views of the Lane Cove River and some beautiful heritage buildings, it also passes through an abundance of spots that are home to local water dragons and water birds. Picnic spots are plentiful, and the whole family will love drinking in the stunning views whilst relaxing on the grassy river banks. This 2-hour, 5.5km walk is the ideal pick for families with older kids.
