Where To Go In Bali With Kids

By: ellalist team, 14 May 2019

If there’s one thing we know to be true, it’s that Aussies love Bali. And with so many beaches, resorts, kids clubs, activities and different regions to explore, who are we to judge?!

As overwhelming as it can seem to try and work out where on earth you should go in Bali once you’ve decided upon it as your destination, it’s worth doing some research to make sure the region you’re heading to is the perfect fit for your family. Here, we break down some of the country’s most popular family-friendly regions with exactly what to expect from each. You’re welcome!

Nusa Dua

As you’d expect from Bali, Nusa Dua boasts beautiful beaches, pristine resorts and excellent tourist facilities—making it an ideal one-stop-shop for holidaying families.

There’s big-name resorts with Kids Clubs aplenty—Club Med, Hilton Bali Resort, Grand Hyatt and Novotel Nusa Dua and many more to choose from, meaning you’ve got everything you need in one place. Despite it being one of the country’s most developed tourist regions, there’s still plenty of natural and cultural attractions to choose from; such as museums, authentic Balinese shows, and art galleries. If an easy, relaxing, resort-style holiday where the whole family is catered to is what you’re looking for, Nusa Dua is the obvious, stress-free option.

Jimbaran

If your family is into lazy beach days, playing on the sand and in the water and even trying some body-boarding, Jimbaran is the ideal pick for your next family getaway. Jimbaran beach is the perfect spot for little ones to learn to surf, thanks to its gentle waves and lack of riptide. Restaurants and dining out are also a breeze, thanks to a range of kid-friendly options that cater to the whole family. If you’re on the hunt for a Kids Club, the Intercontinental Bali boasts its infamous Planet Trekkers club which comes complete with a craft station, chill out zone, plenty of toys, a playground and pools aplenty. What more could you ask for?

For a relaxed, beachside getaway that offers a slice of traditional culture, Jimbaran is for you.

Sanur

For a slightly less Australian-populated experience of Bali that is tipped as the place to go for families, Sanur is a great pick. Nestled on the East Coast, it boasts the picture-perfect aqua blue waters and white sandy beaches you’ve come to expect from Bali, whilst also offering an abundance of classic coastal charm, by way of idyllic winding laneways, boutiques, cafes and hidden nooks.

A great way to explore Sanur is by bike, and kids will love blowing off some steam along the beautiful beachfront path. Paddleboarding, bodyboarding and surfing are popular activities in Sanur, making it the perfect choice for beach-loving families who love spending time by the ocean.

Canggu

Located outside of Seminyak, Canggu has been hailed as the Byron Bay of Bali. And who doesn’t love Bryon Bay?

Finns Recreation Club is a water park that will be a highlight of your stay—complete with all sorts of slides and other fun things to play with, and renting a villa with a pool is the perfect way to enjoy the slightly slower pace of life on offer. The kid-friendly bars (yes, they do exist!), memorable beach atmosphere (even if the waves themselves are better geared towards surfers than littlies), and unrivalled restaurants make Canggu the less-touristy alternative to a lot of other Balinese hotspots.

Seminyak

Roll your eyes if you must and say what you will—but Seminyak, despite its hectic reputation, is still a holiday hotspot among families.

The wide stretches of beach, stunning sunsets and variety of resorts and plush villas are what draws countless families to Seminyak each year. Thanks to its location near Kuta and Legian, Seminyak is in prime position for soaking up some of Bali’s biggest attractions. Visiting Waterbom splash park will make a memorable day out, and spending some time at Bali Sea Turtle Society will be an educational experience, and kids will love having the opportunity to release sea turtles back into the ocean.
