Echuca Moama Lights Festival 2024

The mighty Murray River will be aglow with light and colour as the historic twin towns of Echuca in Victoria and Moama, across the water in NSW, launch the incredible Moama Lights Festival 2024.

Moama Lights Festival Returns in 2024

Moama Lights Festival 2024
Follow the festival boardwalk on an illuminating journey to the Murray River.

The Moama Lights Festival is a three-week celebration centred around an immersive, illuminated trail that tells the story of the Echuca Moama region with captivating installations, starting at the underside of the Echuca Moama bridge, highlighting the natural beauty of Horseshoe Lagoon and finishing at the Murray, Australia's longest river.

Moama Lights 2024 is inspired by the hauntingly beautiful verses of Banjo Paterson's "The Daylight is Dying." As dusk falls, the Lagoon transforms into an enchanting nocturnal paradise, pulsating with life under the cloak of twilight. Picture this: shimmering ripples waltzing across the water, while the bushland whispers its secrets through the projection of children's artworks onto the wild backdrop.

But wait, there's more magic to unfold. The event heralds the celebrated return of awe-inspiring indigenous artworks by the masterful Warrick Keen and the ever-brilliant Alkina Edwards, a contemporary Yorta Yorta artist hailing from Echuca Moama. Each piece is a testament to the rich heritage and vibrant storytelling of First Nations culture. Don't miss this spellbinding blend of poetry, art, and nature coming alive as night descends. It's more than just an event; it's a journey through the soul-stirring depths of Australia’s heartland.

Every night from 5-28 July 2024 under a canopy of light, you can meander along the path of river red gums, as theatrical fog rises from below the boardwalks and you are mesmerised by light and sound. The 600-metre trail will take at least 30 minutes to complete.
