NIDA: Acting, Drama, Performance Workshops For Children (2yrs+)

The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) is Australia’s leading institution for dramatic arts education and training. NIDA is based in Kensington in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and operates from multiple locations across the Greater Sydney region. NIDA offers a range of acting, drama, and performance courses and experiences for children and young people across a variety of disciplines, from Creative Play for pre-school children, to the Next Stage theatre program for primary and high school children.

Courses run in conjunction with the school term and holidays, and there are courses to suit everyone, from the curious beginner to the aspirational artist!

PRESCHOOL ACTIVITIES
NIDA Creative Play provides an entertaining and supportive learning environment designed especially for pre-school aged children and their families. It actively engages children and parents in storytelling and artistic practice through voice, movement and dramatic play based activities.

TERM CLASSES
NIDA offers introductory through to advanced courses for children and young people during the school term in a variety of disciplines including creative play, drama, acting on screen, music theatre, singing & acting, public speaking and more.

Each term focuses on a particular area:

Term 1: 9 February–4 April 2019
Improvisation & Performance Craft

Term 2: 4 May–27 June 2019
Voice & Movement

Term 3: 3 August–26 September 2019
Devising & Contemporary Performance

Term 4: 19 October-12 December 2019
Script Work & Staging

HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS
NIDA offers introductory through to advanced school holiday courses for children and young people in a variety of disciplines including Acting for Stage, Acting on Screen, TV Presenting, Music Theatre, Film Making, Production, Design, Writing for Performance and more.

Autumn school holiday classes run 13-27 April.
