International Grammar School
Dubbing themselves a ‘local school with a global perspective’, International Grammar School is a unique independent, co-educational and secular school offering quality teaching for early learning, primary and high school students.
Boasting a cosmopolitan location just minutes from Sydney’s CBD, International Grammar School places the learning of languages at the centre of their curriculum—offering students the opportunity to engage with languages from preschool through to year 12. The school’s other ‘language’ focus is that of music, which plays a significant and integral part in the education offered at IGS, with the aim of providing students with high-quality music education in an energetic and creative environment.
STEAM education is the learning of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics in an interdisciplinary and cohesive approach. At IGS, students apply their knowledge, extend their understanding and advance their creative and critical thinking skills within practical STEAM learning programs. There’s also the chance to learn coding, robotics and digital innovation.
With a focus on health and wellbeing, sports at IGS includes access to a gym, a rooftop basketball court, nearby Wentworth Park and the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre. Compulsory sport for Years 7 and 8, on Tuesday afternoons, includes competitive and recreational activities such as surfing, skating, soccer, netball, racquet sports, indoor climbing, various martial arts, basketball and general fitness.
International Grammar School was founded on the principles of bilingual learning and respect for diversity. This same vision continues to take the School through the 21st Century, equipping students to be world ready.
With the strategic aspirations of limitless learning, empowering students and a sustainable future, IGS is delivering their vision; inspiring collaboration, creativity and innovation.
Core values of Diversity, Personal Achievement, Connectedness, Vibrancy and Authenticity underpin everything that the school has to offer; sentiments which provide a benchmark to which IGS continually strive to deliver.
