Badu Gili: Wonder Women - Sydney Opera House Light Installation

Badu Gili, which means ‘water light’ in the Gadigal language, celebrates the ancient stories and rich contemporary culture of Australia’s First Nations.

Take a seat on the Monumental Steps for a FREE daily cultural experience as Sydney Opera House’s sails are illuminated with striking, colourful 6-minute projections.

This year's installation, Badu Gili: Wonder Women is a vibrant new animation of artworks that weaves together the works and stories of six female First Nations artists from across Australia, created in collaboration between the Opera House and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, to mark the Gallery’s 150th anniversary.

The sails will illuminate hourly at sunset from 23 April 2021 all year round. Arrive early to soak up the atmosphere and take in the views.
