Biennale of Sydney Celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2024

Art enthusiasts are going to have a very busy few months as the 24th edition of the Biennale of Sydney rapidly approaches. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, this exciting event remains Australia’s largest contemporary art extravaganza and is entirely free to explore.

Ten Thousand Suns: The Theme for the 24th Biennale of Sydney

The theme for 2024, "Ten Thousand Suns", promises an immersive experience that combines celebration, joy, and common experiences. Overseen by Artistic Directors Cosmin CostinaČ™ and Inti Guerrero, this edition intends to work beyond cultural borders and genealogies, paying homage to Australia's rich heritage, First Nations communities, and migrant narratives.

In a statement, CostinaČ™ and Guerrero mention, "The exhibition owes a profound debt to the rich heritage of what is known today as Australia, especially to the struggles and practices in which First Nations communities and migrants have faced and played key roles."
