Moama Lights Festival
Australia's longest river is about to become awash with light and colour as the historic NSW town of Moama (together with its twin town Echuca across the water in Victoria) launches its newest festival this May.
The inaugural Moama Lights festival is a three-week celebration centered around an immersive, illuminated trail.
Every night from 8 to 22 May 2021, captivating installations will tell the story of the Echuca Moama region through light and sound, starting at the underside of the Echuca Moama bridge, highlighting the natural beauty of Horseshoe Lagoon and finishing at the mighty Murray River.
Featuring three distinct acts - Echuca Moama indigenous culture, riverboat heritage and present-day life - you will journey through a field of thousands of illuminated native flowers, an ever-changing display of spectacular hues and twinkling starlight. Local indigenous artworks will also be illuminated to tell the story of the Yorta Yorta people. 100 local student artworks have been woven into a spectacular lighting piece, depicting what Echuca Moama means to them.
Under a canopy of light, follow the path of river red gums and theatrical fog rising from below the boardwalks as you are mesmerised by the light and sound show across the lagoon. The 600m trail will take at least 30 minutes to complete.
