There are five camping packages to choose from including Deluxe Camping and BYO Tent options - ideal for all occasions – perfect for family retreats, catering for all occasions, interests, and budgets. If camping isn’t for you, Cockatoo Island’s apartments and holiday houses marry heritage character with modern amenities. You'll love watching the sun set and rise on Sydney Harbour and explore iconic buildings from the island’s convict era (1839-69) and maritime era (1857-1991).

Cockatoo Island Tours

Enjoy the fully resumed program of history and paranormal tours - Dark Past is a family favourite and a staple of the weekend program. Meanwhile, the Convict Escape Attempts and Sandstone to Steel Tours are running every week for a limited season.

The program caters for different ages, interests and personalities – from history buffs and ghost seekers, through to families and seniors’ clubs. The tours are also a great opportunity to discover iconic landmarks, including heritage buildings rarely opened to the general public.  

Book tickets for one of the regular guided toursrequest a private tour for your group or drop by the visitor centre to pick-up a headset and map for a self-guided audio tour. Use the Island as your base to further explore the city!

Getting there

Located at the junction of the Parramatta and Lane Cove Rivers, Cockatoo Island is just a ferry ride away.

Sydney Ferries run public services to Cockatoo Island every day. Plan your arrival and departure in accordance with ferry timetables. Or you can catch a water taxi to the island.
