Why Did Bents Basin Close?

Over the last few years, several serious flood events damaged the Basin's infrastructure, which caused a lengthy closure. 

Thanks to a massive rebuild by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service—including upgraded facilities, resurfaced roads, and improved safety measures—Bents Basin is once again a go-to nature escape.

Things to do Nearby

For those who prefer to stay dry, there are plenty of picnicking and barbecuing opportunities at both the Bents Basin Road Picnic Area and Durawi Picnic Area where you can soak up the views of the dramatic escarpment rising from the water's edge.

For families who love a challenge, the walk up to Caleys Lookout rewards you with sweeping views (and maybe even a cheeky glimpse of native wildlife along the way!).

And if one day isn't enough, why not make it a camping trip? The Bents Basin Campground has spots for tents, trailers, and caravans, all nestled right by the water and for as little as $34 to camp.
