Justice & Police Museum

Journey through Sydney’s criminal past with a visit to The Justice & Police Museum. Brace yourself as you delve into the intriguing world where crooks and cops, locals and wanderers, and both the guilty and innocent have weaved their tales. Once a bustling police station and courts, this extraordinary museum beckons you to immerse yourself in the riveting realms of crime, policing, and punishment.

There is much to enjoy in this atmospheric, historical building: a recreated 1890s police charge room, a dark and chilling remand cell, and a restored Court of Petty Sessions with its notorious communal dock. Offering interactive and immersive activities, visitors can pose for a mug shot, have their fingerprints taken, or plead their innocence to a jury in a fun, theatrical experience.

This is a perfect outing on a rainy or sweltering hot day as the building oozes with a dark atmosphere and spooky aura. With the introduction of new activities, the museum now caters to a younger audience, as well as offering “adult only” talks and tours. However there is minimal room for active toddlers to run around, and some exhibits may not be suitable for young children.
