Set in the heart of Sydney next to Central Train Station, Prince Alfred Park Pool is the ideal location for relaxing, exercising, learning how to swim, or enjoying a splash with the kids.

This iconic facility is one of Sydney's favourite outdoor heated pools and offers a state-of-the-art 50-metre lap pool, a toddlers' splash pad, learn-to-swim programs, fitness classes, a kids' playground, and plenty of shade to stay out of the sun.

If you've driven past Prince Alfred Park Pool, you've undoubtedly noticed its iconic bright yellow umbrellas. You can't miss the bright yellow hot air balloon at the playground.


Prince Alfred Park offers not one but two outdoor playgrounds for active kids. Once you've had your fill of splashing, swim training, or aqua aerobics, take the kids for a play at the adjacent playground or enclosed toddler play space and let them burn off even more energy. Just look out for the bright yellow hot air balloon near the pool entrance.  

Special Access

Prince Alfred Park Pool has been designed to accommodate the various requirements of special needs patrons. Their facility includes ramp access into the pool (wet wheelchair available upon request) and disabled access toilets.

Opening Times

Prince Alfred Park Pool is open Monday to Sunday from 6 am to 8 pm. Public holidays 7 am to 8 pm.

There are always four lanes open for public swimming at all times. The busiest times are between 6 am to 7.30 am and between 5.30 pm and 8 pm Monday to Friday.

*Closed on Good Friday and Christmas Day.

Getting to Prince Alfred Park Pool

Prince Alfred Park is bordered by Cleveland Street at its south end and Chalmers Street at its Eastern end, with Central Station’s Elizabeth Street exit just north of the park.

Parking: Metered parking can be found on the surrounding streets.
Trains:   Close to Central Train Station.
