ellaslist Reviews: Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq Is The Ultimate Kids❜ Funhouse

By: Tully Rosenberg, 18 July 2024

As the winter school holidays slowly and unrelentingly continued into their second week, I faced the perennial challenge of prying my teen away from her beloved screen. As cosy as the couch is, an escape from the confines of our abode into a world of vibrant retro circus vibes and interactive arcade thrills was just the lure I needed.

With three friends in tow, we ventured to Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq in Alexandria, an electric indoor playground, for an afternoon of surreal adventure.

Roll up, roll up! Stepping into the circus-inspired wonderland of Archie Brothers is like entering another dimension. The big top is abuzz with vibrant lights and pulsating sounds that pull you into an immersive multi-sensory experience where fun reigns supreme.

Games Galore

First stop, Air Hockey!

Of course, the beating heart of Archie Brothers is the myriad of games designed to captivate kids (and adults!) of all ages - and perhaps incite some friendly competition. With their one-hour unlimited gaming cards in hand, my zealous squad darted from one zone to another seeking out every challenge and surprise, sparking playful rivalries and bragging rights along the way!

With all the best and brightest games beckoning, from the adrenaline rush of Air Hockey and the precision of NBA basketball shooting to the rapid-fire action of Jurassic Park and Halo: Fireteam Raven to the fancy footwork of the Step Mania Dance Challenge, they did not want to waste a single second.

I loved the nostalgia of seeing beloved board games brought to life with an innovative twist. Connect Four, Twister, Bop It and even Hungry Hungry Hippos leapt off the tabletops and were transformed into larger-than-life arcade incarnations.

Testing our aim was also an exciting affair as we relentlessly pursued high scores on classic games like Ice Ball, Let's Bounce, Beanbag Toss and Down the Clown.

Archie Brothers also boasts a range of skill-testing machines that reward players with tickets to redeem for loot in their epic prize store.

In the Driver's Seat

Super Mario is a must!

If you've got the need for virtual speed, Archie Brothers has an impressive collection of driving simulators. The line-up of racing games includes Mario Kart Arcade GP, Asphalt Legends and Superbikes 3, and my four speed demons loved putting the pedal to the metal and fighting it out to the finish line. The on-road battles were the four of them could compete at once were a particular highlight!

The Dodgem cars are always a favourite.

Among their favourite attractions were the in-house Dodgem cars, taking several turns around the mini track as they targeted each other in collisions and showed off their competitive maneuvers.

Fueling Up

A much-needed pizza pit-stop.

An hour of non-stop action at Archie Brothers, with a constant hum of high-energy excitement, was sensory overload. So, after our session of extreme gaming, we retreated to a cosy booth in the restaurant for a well-deserved break, ordering two delicious pizzas that vanished as quickly as they arrived. Thankfully, the kids were fueled up for the next round of fun.

Rolling Into Bowling

Keeping the good times rolling.

Archie Brothers is home to an eight-lane Strike Bowling alley that created a welcomed change of pace, with neon lights, upbeat music and retro cinema projections setting the lively scene. The ramps and bumpers ensured even the rookie bowlers among us could get a score on the board, and it was a chance for the kids to bond over strikes and spares, cheer each other on and dance between turns. We also had an extra pizza delivered to our little bowling hub!

Though scoring was low, spirits were high and we all relished the exhilarating satisfaction of knocking down pins. It was a fantastic way to unwind after the arcade frenzy, and being there in the late afternoon was perfect, as we had avoided any chaotic school holiday crowds.
