Strawberry picking is one of those simple pleasures in life that is relatively cheap, easy, and a great way to get the whole family enjoying Brisbane's flourishing natural bounty, not to mention you get rewarded with a sweet treat to take home!

Going on a strawberry-picking adventure in Brisbane means you don't have to travel very far, as Brisbane is full of strawberry farms all within 90 minutes of the city, so grab your baskets and get ready for a sweet-tasting adventure!

When is Strawberry Picking Season in Brisbane?

Did you know that Queensland accounts for 33 per cent of Australia’s strawberries? We just can't get enough of them! Strawberry picking in Brisbane usually runs from May to November but can vary depending on the weather, so it's always a good idea to check your favourite strawberry farm's website before visiting. 

Strawberry Picking Farms in Brisbane

1. Freeman's Organic Farm

For strawberry picking in Brisbane just over an hour outside of the city, Freeman's Organic Farm is a locally-loved farm nestled in the scenic Currumbin Valley. The working farm also grows a range of seasonal fruit and vegetables you can stock up with from their shop, which is open seven days a week. Strawberry picking is available on the first Saturday of each month. Also check out the yoga on the lawn events! 

Where:  618 Tomewin Currumbin Creek Road, Currumbin
When:   Farm tours (where kids can pick their own) run on the first Saturday of every month, 10.30 am - midday (weather permitting). $20 adults, children under 12 are FREE.

2. Oasis Berries

We love this family-owned farm operating near Caboolture since 1998, with a reputation for growing sweet, high-quality strawberries, including being the supplier for the iconic Ekka Strawberry Ice-cream Cone. Oasis Berries are also fondly known for their spectacular annual Oasis Strawberry Festival (typically held in September and October), which marks the end of the local picking season and is an ideal time for Pick-Your-Own activities.

When:    Open seven days a week, 9.00am to 4.00pm

3. Wamuran Farm

The kids will love hand-picking their own strawberries at Wamuran Farm.

 

Found in the Moreton Bay region, Wamuran Farm is a popular destination for families looking for a hands-on farm experience. The farm's main pick-your-own season typically takes place in September and during this time you can get your hands on unique varieties of sweet, juicy, and often impressively large strawberries. Entry is $8 for kids and $15 for adults.

When:   Open seven days a week from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

4. Rolin Farms

Another strawberry farm close to Brisbane, Rolin Farms is just an hour away in Elimba. The Rolin Farms strawberry-picking season usually runs from June to October but make sure you check for updates before visiting.

If strawberry picking isn't on the cards, we still recommend visiting this gorgeous farm and stopping off at their Strawberry Shop, which stocks a range of farm-fresh goods including strawberries, strawberry jam, homemade ice cream, fresh coffee and more.

When:   Open seven days a week from 8.30 am to 4 pm. 

5. Jarvis Fresh Strawberry Farm

The family-owned Jarvis Fresh Strawberry Farm has been supplying ripe and juicy strawberries to Brisbane families for well over 40 years!

Located in Rochedale and open seven days a week, it's always a good time to pop in for some fresh strawbs at Jarvis Fresh! Along with your favourite strawberries, Jarvis Fresh also sell a wide selection of other fresh fruits and flowers. Everything at Jarvis Fresh is freshly grown and picked, so availability will vary - make sure you check their website ahead of visiting to see what they have in store. 

Where:  445 Rochedale Rd, Rochedale
When:   Open seven days Monday to Friday from 8 am to 9 pm; Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm.

6. Strawberry View Coffee Shack

While you can't pick your own strawberries at this spot, a visit to Strawberry View Coffee Shack is still a must for all strawberry-loving kids and kidults.

Strawberry View Coffee Shack is part of Stothart Family Farms Pty Ltd, a fully operational and family-run strawberry farm that supply all of their fresh produce to the Coffee Shack. We highly recommend stopping in at the Coffee Shack to load up on all sorts of strawberry goodies, from fresh punnets to milkshakes, ice creams, cakes, delicious coffees, and even strawberry waffles! There's also a kids' playground on site.

When:   Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and Saturdays from 8 am to 3 pm.

7. Chambers Flat Strawberry Farm

If you want the real farm experience without leaving the city, Chambers Flat Strawberry Farm is just the place for strawberry picking in Brisbane!

Located just 30 kilometres from the CBD, you can get out to Chambers Flat and have a basket full of strawberries before you know it. Strawberries are almost guaranteed between August and October each year, but you can visit any time of year for fantastic fresh produce and some mind-blowingly good hand-made strawberry ice cream!

When:   August to November for strawberry picking. Farm shop is open from June to November.

Strawberry Festivals in Brisbane

If you're really keen to take your love of the red berry to new delicious heights, check out Brisbane's Favourite strawberry festivals. 

The Oasis Strawberry Festival at Oasis Berries in Caboolture usually takes place late in the season in September or October. This popular family day out allows you to pick your own strawberries for about $40 per box (you can fill it and eat as you pick!), and enjoy other festive fun like food trucks, delicious strawberry ice cream, and kid-friendly activities.

If you head further afield to the Sunshine Coast you can catch Strawbfest. This vibrant, free community event is a huge celebration featuring fairground rides, a licensed bar, traditional stalls, live music, kids' activities, a side show alley, and a spectacular fireworks display. It's a true community festival centered around the region's famous strawberries. This happens annually in September.
