Join A Free Online Emergency Library With Over One Million Books

The National Emergency Library has swung open it’s virtual doors for those in dire literary need! Waiving their usual waiting list, the library is now offering free access to over a million online books to help get book lovers through the Covid-19 crisis.

Designed to for precisely for times like this, the library fills the gap while schools and libraries are closed during a crisis, designed to assist with remote learning and appease avid bookworms missing their local library 

The collection of digitised books and materials have been donated by libraries and universities around the world, and in turn, is available globally. The digital library is free to anyone with an internet connection, anywhere in the world.

According to UNESCO,  the COVID-19 crisis has resulted in almost 1 billion students worldwide being physically cut off from classrooms, teachers and libraries. The aim of the National Emergency Library is to put books back into the hands of everyone that needs them and provide “Universal Access to All Knowledge.”  

There is also a Universal School Library within the wider collection that includes a list of 2,300 books curated by an advisory group of school librarians, librarian educators and researchers and organised by reading level and grade.  

Readers can sign up for a free account and borrow up to 10 books at a time.

The library will be open until 30th June 2020 or at the end of the US ‘National Emergency’ - whichever is later.
