What to Expect at the New Waverley Park Playground
As well as offering an incredibly engaging play experience for kids, the awe-inspiring new rocketship and launch tower are also a nod to the history of the playground, too—with the new one offering a modern interpretation of the park’s original rocket ship that was installed in the 1960s.

The new Waverley Park Playground is all about embracing history, enhancing nature, providing adventure, and ensuring inclusivity for everyone in the community. The concept design is brimming with incredible features that will undoubtedly deliver a play experience to remember.
Alongside the newly-built rocketship and launch control play tower, there will be areas for active play, including swings, spinners, and seesaws, as well as a toddler play area with various activities and a picnic setting. There will also be nature, adventure, and sensory play zones, featuring rope climbing, water play, and musical equipment.
Two new slides, including an accessible option also in the works, alongside an accessible picnic area and an intergenerational fitness area.
The New Waverley Park Playground Location & Opening Date
Waverley Park Playground is located at Paul Street, Bondi Junction.
The remaining nature/adventure play area, picnic, and intergenerational fitness areas will be upgraded when funding becomes available. The goal is to have the playground ready later this month, weather permitting. Watch this space!
