The Castle of Tarragindi

Renowned Australian artist Natalya Hughes brings forth a vibrant world of creativity to QAGOMA with the Castle of Tarragindi, blending paintings, textiles, sculptures, and installations inspired by decorative traditions. One of her unique approaches involves crafting immersive interiors that draw from the rich tapestry of art history.

In this exciting project, Natalya invites children to delve into the imaginative art form of the ‘grotesque’ through hands-on and multimedia interactives. Grotesque designs showcase hybrid forms, intertwining parts of animals, plants, and various shapes.

Castle of Tarragindi
There are so many hands-on ways for children to explore this captivating exhibition.

The exhibition's design is set to captivate with a striking blue and white color palette, a nod to grotesque imagery in the style of French designer Jean Bérain, seamlessly intertwined with the beauty of Australian flora and fauna. It's an invitation for children to explore, create, and be inspired by the wonders of art.
