Discover Sea-Stainable Hurstville this August 2022

Do you want your children to understand the importance in helping the environment and our precious sealife, in a fun way?

Don't miss the Sea-Stainable installations throughout Hurstville Plaza and Westfield Hurstville from 12 August – 23 August. 

Enjoy art installations made from recycled materials, roaming entertainment, a kinetic light up dance floor and workshops designed to educate the community on ocean sustainability.

Sea-Stainable: Lighthouse installation by Amigo & Amigo

The Lighthouse is an incredible 10.5m tall installation with an animated rotating Lighthouse at its peak.

Amigo & Amigo have sourced pre used sails which have been upcycled and stitched to make the Lighthouse body. The artists have brought the Lighthouse to Hurstville as a beacon for those visiting, a rotating light source inspiring curiosity and discovery.

Sea-Stainable: Octopoda installation by Amigo & Amigo

Join in and lend Octopoda a hand in his quest to be the greatest eight-legged steampunk drummer-pus on the seven seas. The machinations of this immersive interactive installation are powered and controlled directly through the eight massive barrel-drums connected to his eight fully computer light-controlled legs. Become part of Octopoda’s nervous system and watch his mood come to life as you bash and crash your way through his limbs and into drumming immortality. Up close and hands on, an instant hit with kids of all ages, and a delight of colour sound and design to all the audience.

With over 100m of carefully crafted led animations, and a visceral and approachable personality guaranteed to get your blood pumping ... whatever colour it happens to be.

Sea-Stainable: Community Art Hub Workshops

We are inviting you to customise recycled plastic materials. These will be included in our community evolving art piece of The Humpback Whale.

The Humpback Whale that will be developed by the Hurstville community will result in a one-of-a-kind community art piece that visually tells a story of ocean sustainability.

Sea-Stainable: Eco Renewable Dance Floor

Walk, dance or jump on our energy floor to generate electricity. The electricity that you generate is temporarily stored in a supercapacitor which powers the lighting within each tile. All tiles within the floor set are connected and share data to the main controller about how they’re being used and the amount of energy.

Together as a community we can power up the Lighthouse with eco-renewable energy.

Sea-Stainable: Jellyfish Stilt Walker Entertainment

Be entertained whilst you do your shopping at Westfield Hurstville. Keep your eye out for our illuminated jellyfish stilt walkers.

When: Friday 19 August, 9am - 12pm and Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 August 2022, 11am - 2pm
