1. Deck the Harbour at Darling Harbour
Darling Harbour's Christmas celebrations are not-to-be-missed this year. Come and celebrate post-lockdown life and reclaim your social calendar with back-to-back Christmas events and family attractions including the Darling Harbour Christmas Festival, the iconic GIANT Bauble installation, the Sky Castle interactive light installation, Christmas pedal boats, the Golden Light Tunnel at Darling Square, free kids activities, Christmas parties, Christmas lunches, Christmas giveaways, magical underwater dining experiences and loads more!

2. Sydney Christmas Fair, Entertainment Quarter
Celebrate the festive season over three jam-packed weekends this December as the Sydney Christmas Fair takes over the Entertainment Quarter at Moore Park. The super family-friendly Sydney Christmas Fair is a huge extravaganza of carnival entertainment, games, Santa photos, Elf workshops, a Gingerbread House party and plenty more!

3. Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular
On the outskirts of Sydney, the Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular is seriously worth the drive up north if you want to experience a true Christmas fairytale with your little ones. Explore the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest and most breathtaking illumination display at Hunter Valley Gardens with over three million lights.

4. Woolworths Carols in the Domain
Sydney's favourite Woolworths Carols in the Domain is returning in 2021 to celebrate it's 39th year! Mark Saturday the 18th of December in your diaries to celebrate Christmas with the stars at the 39th Woolworths Carols in the Domain. As per usual, the Carols will be a star-studded event with Australia’s finest talents taking to the stage, including Samantha Jade, Phil Burton, Penny McNamee, Mark Vincent, and co-hosts Natalie Barr and David Koch.

5. Christmas in the City
It's one of the first events to kick off Christmas in Sydney! From 27 November to Thursday 31 December a kaleidoscope of colours will illuminate Martin Place, starting with the lighting of Sydney’s tallest Christmas tree! Decorated with more than 110,000 LED lights, a 3.4-metre colour-changing star and 330 bespoke glossy baubles, the spectacular Martin Place Christmas Tree is the centrepiece of Sydney's Christmas in the City.
Fairy lights will twinkle throughout Martin Place to create a delightful Christmas spectacle, and Pitt Street Mall will once again come alive with its annual Canopy Of Lights, adding a bit of sparkle to your late-night Christmas shopping! Alight with 85,000 LEDs and ten stunning two-metre-high stars, this festive installation is a sight to behold. Make sure you stop to catch a light show - they are on every 15 minutes.

6. Santa Photos at The Grounds of Alexandria
If you love Santa and you love the Grounds then combine the two this year with a special Santa photo at The Grounds of Alexandria. The Grounds will be decked out in plenty of Christmas colour and cheer and the man in red will be waiting with that big old smile on his face ready to make all your Christmas wishes come true. Bookings are essential!

7. Christmas at The Rocks
We know we can count on The Rocks to turn on the Christmas cheer tenfold! This year, Christmas at The Rocks is shaping up to be the place to be for lights, music, food, festivities, markets, and all sorts of bells and whistles. 8. Mosman Christmas Night Markets
Christmas in Sydney just isn't Christmas without a little market shopping! The Mosman Christmas Night Markets are back for 2021 and will be lighting up Mosman Square and Village Green with unique Christmas finds, delicious foods, carols and more.

9. High Tea with Santa
Now, this is what we call a decadent Christmas event in Sydney! Have high tea with the man himself at the QVB's High Tea with Santa event where you can capture your own photo memories with Santa or enjoy the chance to have a professional photographer snap the occasion.

10. Santa’s FunFair, Rouse Hill Town Centre
Santa’s FunFair is coming back to Rouse Hill Town Centre in 2021! The festive extravaganza will have a carnival atmosphere full of thrilling rides including Australia’s only Double Decker Carousel, Storm, Pirate Ship, Snow TeaCup, Mini Chairs and Turbo Toboggan plus Bungee trampolines and sideshow games. Of course, Santa will also be there to spread the Christmas cheer.

11. Lights of Christmas at St Mary's Cathedral
One of Sydney's favourite free Christmas traditions, the Lights of Christmas at St Mary's Cathedral is back in 2021! Come along and see the spectacular sparkling lights, visual effects, incredible soundscapes, Christmas soundtracks and more as we celebrate this year's theme: HOME.
Choirs will be entertaining crowds from 7.30 pm before the lighting show at 8.30 pm. The Lights of Christmas at St Mary's Cathedral runs for 15 minutes and is repeated throughout the evening.

12. Christmas Dining Under the Sea
Throughout the month of November and December, you can experience a Christmas feast like you've never experienced before - under the sea! SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium are now taking bookings for their festive and non-themed private dining experiences under the sea. You and your loved ones will be as happy as clams as you dine on a delectable three-course meal deep below the surface whilst watching all your favourite marine friends living and loving life.

13. Santa's Studio at The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney
Santa's Studio is opening at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney on 20 December where your little elves can create beautiful Christmas crafts and presents for their family and friends. Children will be introduced to a range of art mediums and natural materials to make presents your parents and grandparents will love. Dress ups encouraged!

14. Love Actually in Concert
If Christmas simply isn't Christmas without watching Love Actually, then you're in luck this year! Love Actually in Concert is coming to Sydney in 2021 to make the festive season a pretty romantic one. Here's your chance to see all the romance unfold like never before, with a live orchestra performing the evocative hit soundtrack live with the film being projected onto a huge screen.

15. Tinseltown Sydney
Ho-Ho-Hold my drink, Tinseltown is back in Sydney! The Christmas in July event that didn't end up going ahead in July (thank you, Covid!) has been rescheduled to run for the month of December. Tinseltown Sydney is an adults-only event and is the perfect date night where you can dress in your Christmas finest and boogie the night away to your favourite anthems while sipping on delicious mulled wine and other goodies.

16. Moonlight Cinema
Add watching Christmas movies under the stars to your December itinerary as Moonlight Cinema is back in Sydney with a stellar lineup of Christmas movies to catch from the comfort of Centennial Park. To kick off the festive season you can catch the Grinch, Love Actually, The Holiday, or some classics like Dirty Dancing, Suicide Squad, and The Greatest Showman.

17. Bastille Festival
While not technically a Christmas event, this is one highlight of the December 2021 calendar not to miss! The Rocks are coming alive in celebration of all things French this December for the Bastille Festival. The entire Rocks precinct will be lit up in blue, red and white with plenty of French food, wine, music, festivities and more. Raclette, crepes, freshly baked baguettes, mulled wine and flammekueche are just some of the tasty treats you can look forward to!
