Nurragingy Reserve is an outdoor paradise for families. There's just so much to see and do! The Reserve is part of the Western Sydney Parklands and is home to rolling lawns, playgrounds, picnic areas, cafes, a miniature railway, a water play space, and the famous Chang Lai Yuan Chinese Gardens. 

Wren Water Playspace

The interactive water play park is located near the Wren Picnic area, just south of the Colebee Centre. Hours of splashtastic fun are on the agenda during the summer months when kids of all ages can splish-splash to their heart's content. The water play area has a large windmill, a water wall spray fountain, jets, cannons and bucket dumpers — all of them dispersing water – partially covered in a sail shade.

The water park is open daily from 10 am to 3.30 pm during spring and autumn, while hours will be extended to 9 am to 6.30 pm in summer. The water park is closed in winter.

While you're there check out the Chang Lai Yuan Chinese Gardens, a beautiful architecturally designed garden located within Nurragingy Reserve. It features a stunning Gateway, Seven Arch Stone Bridge, Light Mountain Pavilion and Waterfall Gazebo.

Adding to the allure of Nurragingy Reserve is the Wawai Ngurra Inclusive Adventure Playspace, a pioneering playground designed to cater to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Officially the largest playspace under the council's management, it's a collaborative effort involving the NSW Government, Variety Livvi’s Place, and the Greater Sydney Landcare Network. The playspace boasts various unique features, including a customised elevated walkway, accessible swings, slides, musical instruments, a trampoline, a sand table, quiet areas for relaxation, and an engaging play sculpture.

One of its standout elements is the elevated walkway, which rises 3.5 metres above the ground, leading to a top platform with netting for an immersive experience amidst the eucalypt bushland. Additionally, the playspace offers Changing Places facilities, numerous disability parking spaces, and a variety of accessible furniture, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors.

The Miniature Railway

If you're visiting on the third Sunday of the month then you're in luck because you can hop aboard the adorable Miniature Railway

The Miniature Railway is located between the Currawong and Cockatoo Picnic Areas and takes kids on a ride through the bushland on an authentic small-scale railway - adorable! Rides run from 10 am to 3 pm on the third Sunday of the month. 

The Colebee Cafe

In the mood for a coffee or light snack? The Colebee Cafe is your go-to for coffees and snacks while visiting the park. It's located near the Knox Road entrance.

Location

Entrance is via Knox Road, Doonside. The water play park is located near the Wren picnic shelter.

Opening Times

The water park is open daily from 10 am to 3.30 pm during spring and autumn; 9 am to 6.30 pm in summer; closed in winter.
