A Magical Wizard of Oz Precinct is Coming to Australia in 2024
One of Australia's favourite and largest theme parks is getting a major green glow-up in 2024! Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast is set to get even bigger, better, and themey-er with a brand-new Wizard of Oz Precinct opening in 2024.
Get ready to follow the Yellow Brick Road to the world-first Wizard of Oz Precinct, complete with immersive themes, family-friendly rides, sculptures, and more.
A Magical Wizard of Oz Precinct is Coming to Australia in 2024
Australia can finally claim that yes, the Yellow Brick Road does indeed end in Oz! All theme park goers and Wizard of Oz fans can follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City, aka Warner Bros. Movie World's insane new Wizard of Oz Precinct.
Movie World operator, Village Roadshow have described the new themed precinct as a "multi-million-dollar immersive precinct".
According to Village Roadshow chief executive Clark Kirby, "This precinct is going to be like nothing we have ever done at Movie World and we are working closely with our partners at Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment to make this one of the most beautifully themed precincts in Australian theme parks."
Location of the New Wizard of Oz Precinct
The former Batman: Arkham Asylum precinct will be taken over by the new Wizard of Oz Precinct, with elements from the iconic 1939 musical starring Judy Garland prominent, including the farm in Kansas, evil flying monkeys, the Wicked Witch's castle, the Emerald City, and, of course the famous Yellow Brick Road.
New Rides & Attractions
And as for the new rides and attractions, get ready for sky-high adrenalin! The Flight of the Wicked Witch rollercoaster will catapult you 19 meters into the air at speeds of 67km/h, while the Kansas Twister offers two racing tracks, 22 metres high with a max speeds of 58km/h!
Plus, two more attractions at the Emerald City Plaza and The Wizard's Chamber will keep the enchantment going.

Other New Rides Opening at Movie World in 2024
But wait, there's more!
Movie World's $40-million-dollar upgrade in 2024 will feature more new rides, including The Flash: Speed Force.
The world's first ride-within-a-ride experience in the Southern Hemisphere will be located inside the track of the Superman Escape Coaster. The 30-metre-high half-pipe shuttle coaster will catapult riders at speeds of up to 70 km/h as you twist and spin along a 67-metre track while The Flash competes against his greatest villain, The Reverse-Flash - wowser!
